--

The 41st annual SSE Conference will take place in-person July 23 - 26, 2023, at the Indiana Memorial Union on the Indiana University-Bloomington main campus in Bloomington, Indiana. An Online Conference Encore will take place as a live Airmeet event from October 20-22, 2023.

The theme of the conference is Maverick Science. In a recent paper, Durakiewicz (2022) notes that ‘maverick science’ involves dissent, collaborative effort, and transformative progress, as well as incremental work and paradigm breaking. Here at the SSE, we support and encourage the hallmarks of maverick science: exploratory research, original thinking, and research into unexplained phenomena.

Long talks, Short talks, and Poster presentations will be given on a number of exciting topics. Download the Program and Abstracts of Presented Papers.

Field Trip

On Tuesday afternoon, we will have a guided tour of the Tibetan Mongolian Buddhist Cultural Center (TMBCC), which was founded in 1979 by the Dalai Lama's older brother, Thubten Jigme Norbu (Taktser Rinpoche).  Norbu was one of the first high-profile Tibetans to go into exile, and the first to travel to the United States.  He served as His Holiness the Dalai Lama's representative to Japan and North America. Throughout his life, Norbu spoke out on Tibetan rights, serving as Professor of Tibetan Studies at Indiana University.  The mission of the TMBCC is to preserve Tibetan culture and religion.

The Dalai Lama has supported dialogues with scientists on the nature and functions of the Mind, the convergence between science and spirituality, and the neuroscience of meditative practice. In this tour of the TMBCC, we will get a taste of the Tibetan perspective, visiting the Shrine, two Stupas on the grounds and learning about Tibetan iconography, including the Wheel of Life and the Calm Abiding meditation.

Society for Scientific Exploration

http://scientificexploration.org

Since 1982, the Society for Scientific Exploration (SSE), a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has provided a professional forum for presentations, criticism, and debate concerning topics, which for various reasons, are ignored or studied inadequately within mainstream science. The SSE also promotes improved understanding of those factors that unnecessarily limit the scope of scientific inquiry, such as sociological constraints, restrictive world views, hidden theoretical assumptions, and the temptation to convert prevailing theory into prevailing dogma. The SSE publishes a peer-reviewed journal, the popular EdgeScience magazine, hosts conferences, and connect scholars through networking events, both online and in person.

Margaret Moga
Neuroanatomist
Indiana University School of Medicine-Terre Haute

Margaret Moga, Ph.D., is a neuroanatomist at the Indiana University School of Medicine-Terre Haute, with research articles examining the neural pathways underlying circadian rhythms and the autonomic nervous system. Her current research interest is energy healing, with a focus on identifying possible energies involved in healing and the exceptional experiences of healers. Neuroscience

Dianne Trussell, BSc Hons, has worked in neuroscience research and teaching at two Australian universities. During work on prefrontal cortical connectivity of the human brain, she realized that the brain is a responsive transducing device, not an originator of consciousness. She now researches consciousness as a non-local, universal property, and incorporates ageless wisdom traditions into her scientific thinking. She has co-authored ten peer-reviewed scientific publications on basic neuroscience, and has been presenting at the SSE and TSC conferences for the last three years.

She is studying at Energy Medicine University in biology, Vedic consciousness, and ancient healing practices. She has studied with Dominique Surel, James Oschman, Mali Burgess, and Beverly Rubik, and now studies with Cyndi Dale. She is currently exploring neutrinos, quantum biology, and prana/chi.

And since 2015, the Infinite Spiral Staircase Theory (ISST), a cosmology positing a hyper dimension of cosmic consciousness (+hyperspace, hypertime).ISST postulates a tachyonic consciousness-energy and a hyperdimensional semantic (syg)-field in all beings/systems. Dr. Hardy is currently modelling nonlocal mind, psi, spiritual processes, and mind-over-matter.
